I am a huge fan of looking glass and the entire 0451 legacy, so this game hit the spot. Until I catch up on some stuff that released this year, this is what my top 5 looks like, And the writing / flavor text is wonderful, you can win a 'quest victory' by completing your factions main quest!Īnd the cell phone civ 5 game Polytopia! - Civ 5 on your phone! But really calling it Civ 5 is a big stretch, it has tech research, city upgrades, and unit building but it's can't touch civ 5's depth. Third the games are shorter, which I think is a huge plus, Civ 5 is just too long. Secondly it has unit stacking / making armies, which in theory speeds up the end game and ordering units around. It beats Civ 5 in a couple areas - for one some races play radically different others, being severely handicapped in some areas.

If you like Civ 5 but have never seriously looked into this game you are missing out. Rise of Nations! I was afraid it would look dated but it holds up great! And the 'conquer the world campaign' is huge! You can get so much gameplay out of that!
